Like the photo caption says, "It always starts with a plane ride.". Well that isn't entirely true it starts with a phone call and then some time in yard, always too little time, and then a ride to the airport. This time we are off to Klemtu, BC. To install a new ferry terminal.
The big guy in the centre of the photo is Scott, Scotty or Bean. He is terrified of flying. Mostly the take off and the landings and he's not too keen on the stuff in-between either. The fellow on the left is Sebastien, C Bass or just plain old Bass. He's from Quebec but we never let him forget about. Bass is our crane operator and not a bad one at that.
This plane ride takes us to Port Hardy and from there we fly to Bella Bella. At Bella Bella we all hop into a van, gear in hand, and take a short drive to the government dock. The ride only last about 3 minutes, there was 10 of us in the van and we all had to pony up ten bucks for the ride. Nice business buddy has there. From Bella Bella to Klemtu is about an hour and half by boat and that is what we got on next. The weather was good and everybody was happy. Particularly Scotty because he was not looking forward to a third flight in one day. Well like I said everybody was happy but why did the words "A three hour tour" keep going through my head?
